11 movie moms that remind us how much we love our real life ones

accreditation

Erica Sayers – Black Swan

Not realising the psychological strain her daughter is under, she pushes Nina to the edge because Nina has the chance to have the dancing career her mother was robbed of. She is overbearing and controlling almost to the point of serious abuse and seems to blame Nina for her career being over.

Joan Crawford – Mommie Dearest

Faye Dunaway really brought the crazy in her portrayal of the legendary Hollywood actress. Joan adopts children and uses them for publicity and then tries to control every aspect of their lives while being verbally, mentally and physically abusive. Worst part? This film was based on a memoir written by Joan’s real-life adopted daughter.

Gladys Leeman - Drop Dead Gorgeous

A former beauty queen herself, Gladys now lives vicariously through her daughter and is obsessed with winning. So obsessed in fact, that she is willing to murder and maim all the competitors to ensure her daughter’s victory.

Kate McCallister – Home Alone

While Kate isn’t a homicidal maniac or an abusive horror like most of the mothers on this list, she is EXTREMELY irresponsible. She forgets her 8-year-old child at home not once, but TWICE because she was too annoyed at his bad behaviour to check that he was actually there. Can anyone say “neglect”?

Margaret White – Carrie

Carrie’s mother has serious issues. And her domineering ways, obsession with religion, and the abuse she inflicts on her daughter, is probably the biggest player in Carrie’s murderous rage.

Mary Lee Johnston – Precious

Instead of helping her teen daughter out of a cycle of abuse similar to her own, Mary verbally and physically abuses Precious, as well as the two children who were the result of rape by Precious’ own father. Not only does Mary blame Precious for being raped, but she let it happen and did nothing to help her daughter.

Helen Boucher - The Waterboy

Everything is “the devil!” to this woman. She was extremely overprotective of her son Bobby, so much so that she goes out of her way to give him life lessons and stop him from doing certain things that make him happy (like football and his girlfriend) which leaves him with a lot of pent up aggression and a really bad stutter.

Stifler’s mom – American Pie

The original MILF, she was just far too cool for her own good. She embarrassed her poor son by sleeping with his friend and then being the ‘cool older woman’ about it.

Beverly Sutphin - Serial Mom

Well she’s not just a bad mom, but a bad person – she’s a serial killer after all. Instead of addressing the problems her children might have with care and empathy, she fixes the problem by murdering the people she seems to think caused them.

Mrs Wormwood – Matilda

Oh she was an awful mother to that little girl. She cared more about playing cards with her friends than she did the wellbeing of her own child. She’s vapid and tacky and just doesn’t understand Matilda – not that she ever really tries.
