4 TV show reboots we’re insanely excited about

accreditation

Xena: Warrior Princess
Not only will our favourite butt-kicking female warrior be back on our screens, but the pilot episode’s executive producer has hinted that she could be openly gay. Now we all know that a lesbian relationship between Xena and Gabrielle was implied, but it never openly stated.

According to Newsweek, however, Javier Grillo-Marxuach said in response to a question on Tumblr that there would be no reason to bring the show back if not “for the purpose of fully exploring a relationship that could only be shown subtextually [sic]” in its original run. Yay for inclusivity! No word yet on who will be starring in the show, but rumours have surfaced saying Lucy Lawless is wanted for an onscreen role, but we're not sure if she'll actually be playing Xena just yet. We guess we'll have to wait and see.

Gilmore Girls
Thanks to Netflix, GG fans will get four more 90-minute episodes which will span one year in the Stars Hollow universe! Your favourite characters all seem to be reprising their roles - even Jared Padalecki, Milo Ventimiglia and Matt Czuchry (who played Rory’s boyfriends) will all be making a return. Sadly though, it seems Melissa McCarthy, who played eccentric chef Sookie St James, won’t be a part of the revival. Creator Amy Sherman-Palladino says Melissa is just too busy, but Melissa says she wasn’t even invited. Ouch.

Twin Peaks
The supernatural mystery show’s reboot was announced back in 2014 but has taken a while to get off the ground. According to Deadline, the show will be coming back sometime in early 2017. Series creator, David Lynch, was on the fence with his involvement for a while because of money disputes, but now it seems he’s back in to direct all the episodes of the upcoming season. David and his co-creator, Mark Frost, wrote one long script for the series and it will be shot as one long film and edited down to individual episodes. Series lead Kyle MacLachlan will be returning along with co-stars Sheryl Lee, Sherilyn Fenn, Mädchen Amick, Michael Horse, Dana Ashbrook, Miguel Ferrer and Lynch, but there will be a few surprises too.

Prison Break
Remember this show about a man who is falsely imprisoned and the brother who tries to help him escape? We certainly remember Wentworth Miller. Those eyes. Both Miller and Dominic Purcell are confirmed to return for an event series (this means it will run for one season with limited episodes, but might be renewed) which will run during the 2016-2017 season according to E! Online. The co-chairman of Fox, Dana Walden, confirmed that the series will pick up a few years after the last season of the show. Sarah Wayne Callies, who played Sara Tancredi, would like to return to the show, but things are still uncertain. Robert Knepper, who played villain T-Bag, is also in talks to feature in the new season, according to Express.
