20 #DMYourTwitterCrushDay tweets that will make you laugh and then cry

accreditation

So someone in the Twitterverse decided that 1 November 2016 would be the day we would all need to become brave and pluck up the courage to message that one person who makes your heart skip a beat, or your fingers miss a key by sending them a direct message or DM for #DMYourTwitterCrushDay.

Depending on who you are and how this works out for you, this may be the best day ever, or just another disappointment from the year of 2016.

Just remember, even if no one DMs you, you're still made of sunshine and moonbeams, so don't be sad.

So, while we wait for our DMs to become fruitful, we can have a lekker laugh at some of the jokes.

These are just some of our favourites:

When you hear it's #DMYourTwitterCrushDay and you think you must be getting a message soon:

And you hoping that your crush feels the same way you do and they'll message soon:

When you pluck up the courage to actually message your crush:

And then you sit and wait, like:

And then you see this:

Or you message and then get disappointed:

Eventually you start to accept that your DMs are gonna stay dry:

So decide to take the plunge and confess your love to people you know won't reject you:

Or that you can't expect others to love you if you don't love yourself:

But if your crush does reply, you start trippin':

Until you get into bed and realise your DMs still didn't get no love

But then you realise why people weren't loving you:
