According to HuffPost, Lynzy Lab, a dance teacher at Texas State University, uploaded a video of herself singing “It’s a scary time” to YouTube the day after Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation was announced. The video has been watched more than 200 000 times on YouTube and retweeted more than 81 000 times so far.
The video seems to be a reply to a statement made by the US president Donald Trump recently where he lamented about how young men are having a hard time at the moment with women speaking up about sexual abuse.
According to PEOPLE, Donald Trump said the following on the White House lawn last week while defending Kavanaugh and the allegations against him: “It is a very scary time for young men in America, where you can be guilty of something you may not be guilty of,” the president said. “This is a very, very — this is a very difficult time. What’s happening here has much more to do than even the appointment of a Supreme Court justice. It’s a very scary situation where you’re guilty until proven innocent. You could be somebody that was perfect your entire life and somebody could accuse you of something.”
Because men who abuse women are supposedly more deserving of sympathy than victims of sexual assault? Perhaps President Trump has his priorities messed up.
Lynzy’s song lists the many, many ways on which it’s actually always a scary time for women and maybe not so much for men.
"I can't walk to my car late at night while on the phone," she sings, strumming a ukulele. "I can't open up my windows when I'm home alone/ I can't go to the bar without a chaperone/ I can't wear a miniskirt if it's the only one I own."
She continues to list all the things women are afraid to do because of rape culture, highlighting just how much fear is a normal part of women’s daily lives. She then contrasts these fears with the ironic notion that it’s a “scary” time for men.
"But it sure is a scary time for boys," she croons. "Yeah, gentlemen band together, make some noise/ It's really tough when your reputation's on the line and any woman you've assaulted could turn up any time."
Though she does not name Trump or Kavanaugh in her song, Stewart does make references to Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, the research psychologist and professor at Palo Alto University, who claimed that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her at a high school party in the 1980s (which he denies), where he allegedly pinned her down to a bed, groped her and tried to remove her clothes.

Because the comparison of being afraid of being falsely accused to the fear that women live in daily is a joke.
Lynzy ends the song with a call to action for Americans to go and vote in the midterm elections on 6 November as voting could help makes things a little less scary for women.
