The Global Citizen Festival this past weekend was not only one of the grandest concerts of 2018 with its star studded lineup, but its top performers more than reflected a unique African perspective.

From the local and international performers, these were our favourite on stage looks.

Beyonce

The most anticipated performance was from the queen herself, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and she didn't compromise with neither the fashion nor with the performance.

Beyoncé opened her show with a sequined head to toe matching ensemble by Greek designer Mary Katrantzou. She wore a matching bodysuit, thigh high boots and a cape designed with a map of the African continent.

Beyonce

As if Beyoncé's first look wasn't an impressive entrance enough, her second look was just as symbolic. The black and white ensemble from Olivier Rousteing of Balmain that she followed up with on her first outfit change marked her as the queen that she is.

The feathered arms of the bodysuit perfectly framed the the beaded Egyptian hieroglyphs on the bodice and sleeves.

An Instagram post from her stylist, Zerina Akers already has over 13 000 likes.

And the fully beaded Sudanese-inspired mini with Ndebele jewels was extraordinary to watch her perform in. Take a look at a clip of it below.

Tiwa Savage wowed the crowed in a colour block jumpsuit, with flawless hair and makeup that complemented the look. It perfectly captured the richness that our continent holds.

Our own Sho Madjozi put on a world class show with her shibelani skirt accompanied by her group of talented dancers. At this Global Citizen performance she sported a mini shibelani inspired colourful piece by designer Onder Die Invloed in collaboration with her mother, aunt and grandmother.
