Bonang Matheba wants to give her red carpet dresses to matric students – here’s how you can donate your dresses too

Know someone who needs a matric ball dress? Then Queen B aka Bonang Matheba could make their dreams come true with a chance to win one of her red carpet dresses for their matric farewell. 

According to The Juice, Bonang will make three lucky young women's dreams come true this September when she gives away three of her red carpet dresses as well as a makeover with her glam squad.

"I've had a most blessed month and want to share in my success by acknowledging others and encouraging individuals to feel strong, beautiful and empowered. So I'm giving three young ladies the chance to win one of my red carpet stunners and to be the queen of their matric dances," says Bonang.

Entrants need to send their motivation as to why they deserve to win a Bonang Matheba red carpet dress and a makeover, to womenofthefuture@bonangmatheba.com.

This move from Bonang comes a few weeks afterTV personality and designer Nandi Madida also decided to give away the two piece gown she wore to the recent 2018 BET awards to a lucky matriculant says The Juice.

So not only could you turn up in a beautiful gown, but you could possibly wear a dress that was on the same red carpet as Janelle Monae!

The dress is black with white and gold detail and comes from Nandi’s Colour clothing label. 

But there’s a catch, you have to have good grades (and be a size 28) to score the ensemble.

Donating a dress that you’re only ever going to wear once is a great idea and we think these celebs are doing a great thing for some lucky women.

The Cinderella Project 

The Cinderella Project is part of the Jes Foord Foundation and collects secondhand formal gowns and suits in good condition to be given to underprivileged boys and girls for their matric balls. The foundation also uses this as an opportunity to go to schools and educate these young girls and boys about rape and help support possible victims.

The Fairy Godmother Project

The Epic Foundation started this initiative as a way to give underprivileged girls in their matric year the opportunity to go their matric farewells in beautiful dresses. They supply them with an evening dress, jewellery, a bag and even shoes where possible. The girls are encouraged to “pay it forward” to another girl they know would also benefit from having a beautiful dress for their farewell.
