Iconic apparel and sneaker brand Adidas Originals is reviving its Adicolor franchise, taking us back to the 70s. The range is a symbol of sports and street culture remastered for the present with the confidence to playfully celebrate colour for a new generation.

Adicolor Spring/Summer 2018 is a curated archive range with silhouettes of previous collections from past decades. Some of the revived apparel includes the Adibreak snap pants and the Beckenbauer tracksuit. This time, the brand used innovative fabrics and refined fits to spruce up the classic fits.

To kick off the launch in South Africa, Adidas Originals commissioned talented designer Trevor Stuurman, respected for his work in front of and behind the camera, to illustrate his celebration of colour in everyday life. Stuurman sourced inspiration from the energetic markets and playgrounds distinctive to Africa, a glowing range of colour that lives and breathes on this continent.

When asked which of the four Adidas sport hues – Bluebird, Fairway Green, Scarlet Red and Sun Yellow – he prefers, Stuurman said: “Green is such a promising colour. It speaks to the presence of life. It conjures up images of vibrancy and in its full glory, green is a sign of the future.”

The Adicolor collection is available at Adidas Originals stores, on adidas.co.za and at Sportscene.
