#MondayMotivation: Trends spotted at Global Citizen Festival have us set for the festive season

accreditation

The first weekend of December has kicked off with many festivities across the country, truly setting the tone for the month where every day is a Friday (for the privileged few already on leave).

On Saturday 1 December, Capetonians basked in the sun at the Bubbly Festival in Franschoek and the rest of the country officially welcomed Silly Season at the Global Citizen Mandela 100 celebration at the FNB Stadium - also known as Beyoncé's concert.

And with so many more soirées still lined up on our social calendars from here on out, it's worth adding a burst of athleisure, sequins, and brights to our wardrobes.

Global Citizen Festival attendees definitely got the memo:

Achieving a good festival look is all about comfort, and practicality, but more importantly, it's about making a statement.

Sometimes this may entail wearing blue braids, a pink wig, sequinned pants or blouse and an unforgettable pair of kicks - it all depends on how daring you are.

These are our top five festival statement piece must-haves for every kind of festival goer:

Sequins

If you're going to enjoy a dance sequence, you better do it in sequins.

Athleisure

Active wear with an edge. Pair your colour panel bike shorts with a glam top to look less gym-ready and more Fame dance class ready.

Or kit out in head-to-toe athleisure - crop tops and all - and complete with a statement jacket.

Crop top, PUMA

Statement jacket

It sure gets nippy after the sun sets at music festivals. Be sure to take an attention-grabbing jacket with you. We love this Rich Mnisi x Coke Threds gender neutral jacket from the designer's latest collaboration with Coca-Cola.

Sneakers

Festivals are the perfect place to flex your sneaker cred. Add this pair of Nike Air Force 1 Hi LX "Just Do It" Pack to your shoe hall of fame and compliment them with a pretty frock.

Moonbags

One of the most practical items to come out of '90s trends resurrections is the moonbag. So in the spirit of staying true to culture, we recommend you get this '90s sitcom reminiscent  Coca-Cola x Sol-Sol hip bag.

Or you could add a metallic touch by shopping this quilted moonbag.
