Shoes

Add some statement shoes to your otherwise meek outfit. 'Dad shoes' or grunge stompers are ideal and will complement a simple jeans-and-white-shirt combo to perfection.

Jewellery

Stack a few necklaces, gold or silver (or both!). Adding jewellery to a plain black look immediately ups its standout appeal. It's all in the details, baby.

This is the face of a girl who is bothered by the heat, exhausted from a day of museum and train hopping and bloated from drinking beer. Some of the museums' archives remain problematic in that they host the colonial archive without the transparent accountability. Others are opened to vital debate and speak of the need for transformation in these spaces. This experience so far has reminded me about the enormous power and role the museum plays in memory and identity, and the fundamental ways in which society seeks evidence of what its core values are and have been, where it has come from, and where it is going.

Wear hair accessories like braid jewels like it's a damn crown.

Sleeves

Sleeves are still in. Exaggerated and puffy are the way to go, style it with a tailored pair of black trousers or jeans and BOOM, an extroverted minimalist is born.

Add texture

Add an item like a fluffy faux fur coat to your basics. Texture is great for upping the ante on a uniform-style outfit.

Play matchy-matchy (but just a little)

Go minimalist, but then match one colour or print spotted in your outfit to one of your accessories.

Clash

Choose an outfit in one colour, even the bag (like below), then add one single item that clashes.
