You will need:
- wooden box
- square of cork board (to slip-proof the container)
- scrapbooking paper
- universal undercoat
- enamel paint in a colour of your choice
- modge podge
- paintbrushes
- drill and drill bits
- craft glue
- craft knife and cutting mat
- metal ruler
NOTE Use enamel paint to make the box water-resistant and easier to wipe clean.
To make:
1 Mark the inside of the lid where you want to drill the holes, then do the drilling. You can use 6mm and 10mm drill bits.
2 Paint the inside of the box and the inside and outside of the lid with a universal undercoat. Leave to dry overnight. Paint with two coats of enamel, leaving the first coat to dry completely before painting the next.
3 Decoupage the outside of the box with scrapbook paper. Measure the box and cut out paper panels.
4 Paint the first side panel with a coat of modge podge. Position the paper panel correctly. Use your fingertips to smooth out any bubbles or creases, working outwards from the centre. Paint another coat of modge podge. Repeat to line the remaining panels. Leave to dry.
5 Seal with a final coat of modge podge, then leave to dry. Trim any protruding paper with a craft knife for a neat finish.
6 Cut the cork to fit the bottom of the box. Glue in place by applying adhesive to the back of the board and the bottom of the box, following the manufacturer's instructions. Leave to dry.
7 Arrange brushes, paint and paint trays in the box before wrapping.
