How to

Step 1: Start with Santa’s body: cut two 9 x 9cm squares from a sheet of red paper and two 9 x 9cm squares from a sheet of white paper.

TIP: You should be able to get nine squares from one A4 page, enough for three Santas.

Step 2: Glue a red square to a white square. Trim off any excess around the edges.

Step 3: With the red side facing you, fold two of the edges over by 0.5cm.

TIP: Use a ruler to ensure all your fold lines are flat.

Step 4: Turn the square over so that the white side is facing you. Fold the two outer edges towards the middle.

Step 5: Fold the top left corner downwards to form a triangle. Do the same with the top right corner. Fold the top third down; Santa’s body is now complete.

Step 6: Now make his hat and beard: using the second square – again with the red side facing you – fold the left top corner over by about 1cm to form a triangle.

Step 7: Fold over the lower edge by 0.5cm, as well as the right-hand edge so that you have two narrow white edges. Then turn the square over so that the white side is facing you.

Step 8: Fold the left top corner over, then do the same with the right-hand corner to form a cone shape.

Step 9: Fold the narrowest point of the cone over diagonally.

Step 10: Glue Santa’s head to his body, then thread pretty twine through his hat to hang each decoration on your tree.
