How are the preparations going for your performance?

Everything is going as planned. I’ll be performing alongside an amazing choir – we’re sounding really good. I’m also excited for people to hear new songs that I haven’t released yet.

Is this your first time performing at the event?

This is my first time on the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz stage. However, last year I got to perform at Women’s HeART Picnic, which was also hosted by Standard Bank.

What does this performance mean for your career?

Honestly, this is confirmation that I’m doing something right. To be given this kind of opportunity in a country where there are millions of talented people, is a big deal. I feel blessed and truly honoured.

What are you looking forward to the most for your performance?

I believe each time I sing for a crowd, I’m conveying a message and words of courage.  My set will consist of songs about women empowerment, Black identity and the beauty of African culture. Fans should expect to feel goosebumps and experience magic!

Where to from here?

I’m looking forward to the Lockdown soundtrack, which is set to be released on 1 October 2018. In addition, we’re also working on the Lockdown theatre musical.

Be sure to get your tickets to the Standard Bank Jazzy Market and Joy of Jazz.
