Emma Letts from Leicestershire, England, has shared how she was “in bits” after finding a secret message her mother had left on her wedding shoes before she died.

Emma, who’s due to get married in August, received the shoes last week and discovered her mom had also paid for them, Metro UK reports.

Her mom was diagnosed with terminal cancer a month after Emma got engaged to Richard and had hoped to attend the wedding, but tragically died in 2017.

“It’s been so hard planning a wedding without having her with me, and I have had lots of tears,” Emma told the BBC.

"Wanted you to have a gift from me on your wedding day. Your wedding shoes are my gift to you,” the special message read.

Emma said when she realised the message was from her mom, she became extremely emotional.

"I started to cry . . . I was just absolutely in bits. I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk."

According to the Daily Mail, after sharing her story on Facebook, Emma received lots of messages of support.

"It's really nice to hear that what I'm feeling other people have gone through, and to know that there are people out there who are planning weddings and not having their mom there," she said.

Amanda Weise, who runs online shop Lace and Love that customises shoes, said Amanda’s mom had contacted her a few weeks after the initial order was placed.

"It was her mom who told me she had cancer and wouldn't be there for Emma's wedding day. She told me on the first message she sent me."

"Her mom actually emailed me and said she wanted to pay for the shoes. I said, 'Well she's already paid half.' She said, 'Can I pay for it all and then you refund her the money when she gets the shoes?'”

Emma praised the local shop that created her shoes, writing on Facebook: “Amanda is super- talented and has such an amazing eye for detail. The shoes are so personal and bespoke.”
