A bride-to-be recently took to Reddit to tell a rather odd story. After years of planning her wedding, her sister attempted to steal her venue and even her wedding date!

The bride posted her story to the site’s Relationship Advice forums where she explained that she and her fiancé have been dating for eight years and engaged for three.

Their engagement has been long because she’s in the process of obtaining her PhD, she said. But in the meantime, they’d booked their dream venue for September which is when they’re to get married.

During a family braai, the bride-to-be’s sister announced to the family that she was pregnant, and while everyone was celebrating the good news, she dropped another major bombshell, FOX News reports.

“I was really, really hoping we could kinda like take your venue?" the bride-to-be’s sister allegedly asked her.

“I really cannot stress myself too much with planning a wedding while going to maternity classes. And I think it (the venue) is so beautiful! It would really mean a lot to me.”

Despite family members insisting that she help her little sister, the bride-to-be responded by explaining that she couldn’t give up her dream venue after spending three years planning the wedding.

Reddit commenters were quick to express their horror at the little sister’s request.

“Her lack of timely family planning is not your responsibility. Period. Plan the wedding of your dreams, and perhaps those family members who aren't supportive aren't invited,” one user wrote.

“I honestly think the sister didn't just want the venue. I suspect it was a back door to asking for basically the whole wedding since everything was already ready,” another added.

“I have a strange suspicion she’d have demanded the older sister call off her guests while she called hers for the wedding.”
