A bride whose dad died four months before her wedding decided she wanted to honour him on her big day in the most unusual way.

Charlotte Watson (26), a mom-of-two from the UK, was devastated when her dad, Mick Barber, was diagnosed with prostate cancer.

The 26-year-old had dreamt of having her dad walk her down the aisle so when Mick fell ill, she and her husband Nick decided to bring their wedding forward even though they weren’t in much of a rush to get married, BBC reports.

Sadly, Mick passed away in April, four months before the wedding.

Subsequently Charlotte’s nail artist cousin, Kirsty Meakin, had the idea to decorate Charlotte’s nails with Mick’s ashes, Sun UK reports.

“Kirsty is the queen of nails and I thought her idea was amazing," Charlotte explained.

“Having the ashes attached to my nails felt like he was holding my hand, I knew it wasn’t the same as him really being there, but it was as close as we could get.”

Kirsty recorded the process of creating the nails and uploaded it to her YouTube channel, showing her followers how she and Charlotte sorted through the ashes to find bone fragments that would work for the acrylics, Metro UK reports.

Alongside her nails, Charlotte got to honour Mick with a photo of him on the back of her wedding shoes, a pendant attached to her flowers and a teddy bear made from one of his jerseys.
