An Australian man and woman who’d been childhood friends but lost touch for 20 years have tied the knot and are expecting their first child together.

Jemma and Daniel Langley (both 29) were born just a day apart at the William Angliss Hospital in Melbourne Australia in 1989, Mirror reports.

The pair were introduced as new-borns by their mothers who went into labour at the same time and were placed in beds next to each other, Msn.com reports.

The mothers became close friends, as did their babies.

But the Melbourne-based couple lost touch at the age of nine when their families drifted apart and it wasn’t until 2013, when the two were both 24 years old, that the friendship was rekindled.

Jemma happened to come across a hairdressing page on Instagram which belonged to Daniel’s sister Rhiannon, Lad Bible reports.

“I started following her [Daniel’s sister] on Instagram and not long after decided to track Daniel down on Facebook. We started chatting for a while over Messenger,” Jemma told Daily Mail.

She then booked an appointment at Rhiannon’s salon, which was located at the family home where Daniel was living at the time. Halfway through getting her hair dyed, Daniel came into the room to say hello and the pair started chatting.

“From then we couldn’t get enough of seeing each other,” Jemma says.

The two officially became a couple in 2014 and got engaged two years later.

“Every time we tell people [the story], they can’t actually believe it,” Jemma adds.

“It’s pretty crazy.”

Last year on Valentine’s Day, Jemma posted a picture of the couple on Instagram when they were children.

She wrote: “It’s so crazy to think that I’ve known you for almost 28 years. You were one of the first people I met in this world and it still gives me goosebumps knowing that I’ll be marrying you!

“We may have lost touch for most of those 28 years but something definitely brought us back to each other. You make me incredible happy and I cannot wait for our future together.”

The couple wed in April last year and are expecting their first child in March.
