A British couple who first met at the age of eight have tied the knot after spending two decades apart.
Joanne (31) and Adam Eden (31), from Plymouth, first met in primary school in 1996 where they shared a desk.
Joanne, a customer service advisor, says she always had a crush on Adam but when the two attended different high schools they lost touch only to be reunited in their adult years.
“He was my favourite person to be around at school as he used to always make me laugh and help me with my work,” she said.
“Adam was the tallest in the class
and I was the smallest.”
After meeting again at a primary school reunion, the pair hit it off and have been inseparable ever since.
Joanne recalled the moment she saw Adam at their school reunion after being apart for so many years. He’d brought along his girlfriend, which upset Joanne.
“Two months later I saw on Facebook he’d become single and I plucked up the courage to send him my number,” she said.
“It was the best decision I’d ever made as he’s my soulmate who’s pushed me to achieve things. I never thought I could like my degree in psychology.”
The love-struck couple, who moved in
with each other after a year and a half of dating, have now been together for
six years and have three dogs.
“Everything is just so easy with Adam, we never have any drama and if I’m ever annoyed he makes me laugh and I forget what I was angry about.”
According to Joanne, when Adam’s mother Val (57) found out they were dating, she dug up old photos of Joanne from when she was in primary school.
"Adam couldn't believe he had pictures of his now wife from as a kid – it’s just evidence that we are meant to be.”
