Many companies across the globe have implemented a work from home system so their employees don’t have to come into the office during the Covid-19 pandemic but does working from home mean you can be on a video conference in your PJs and scruffy hair updo?
Am I the only one who was confused about this?
On my side, my pixie haircut turns into a punk inspired mohawk until I comb it down minutes before my daily video conference call and I feel an overwhelming sense to do so, to respect my colleagues and myself.
So, do I think we still have to get ready and dress up for ‘work’ even though we’re working from home? Yes. Do you have to spend hours on your look? No.
This is how I get ready just five minutes before my meetings and still look presentable.

The puffy eyes
Puffy eyes are cute if you have just woken up from a nap, but not for a virtual meeting.
To brighten a sleepy eye, apply on a concealer on eye bags and mascara on the lashes. That is about it to convince your manager that you are wide awake.
Eyebrows
Give the eyebrows a quick brush with your mascara wand and they'll look presentable in seconds.
Shiny face
Be aware of the shine on your face. That can be fixed with a dash of power for a matte look.
Hair
Styling my hair often takes 15 minutes during my normal morning routine. During self-isolation however, I just style the front and not the back. Shhh.
Applying a handful of products to style your hair is not necessary at this point, lay the edges and style in the easiest bun or what works quickest on your hair.
Lips
Lastly, give your lips a healthy shine with your preferred lip care.
FYI: Dry lips are distracting. Yes, we can see them clearly through the screen!

Outfit
It is a lock down, there is no need to wear your favourite satin blouse or striped shirt. A basic t-shirt or dress will do. As long as it’s appropriate and generally something you wouldn’t mind wearing to work. That is the benchmark. Don’t worry about shoes, whether you’re comfortable in bunny slippers or flip flops, the boss won’t look that far.
Now, show up!
