A former politician has married his widowed daughter-in-law three years after the death of his son, with whom she had two children.

Raul Orihuela Gonzalez, former mayor of Tequisquiapan in Mexico, recently married Valeria Hassen Morales, according to local media.

Valeria was married to her new husband’s deceased son, Andrew Raul Michel Orihuela, who died aged 28 in a traffic accident in 2016.

Andrew lost control of his vehicle and hit a roadside tree, killing him instantly, according to reports.

The former politician started a relationship with the younger widow eight months after his son’s death, according to local media.

The wedding took place on Friday in Quintana Roo where Raul works for a private business.

It’s unclear whether his grandchildren were present at their mother’s wedding.

Raul was the mayor of Tequisquiapan between 2009 and 2011 and again from 2015 to 2018.

Local media said the former politician was embroiled in various controversies and was even shot in the face during an attempted homicide that he miraculously survived.

The ages of the happy couple aren’t known.
