In a post shared on Reddit, Adam* revealed he had an affair with his brother Will’s wife, April, who recently passed away after a long battle with cancer.

He then made another shocking revelation, saying he has no idea how to tell his brother that his daughter, Lacey, might actually be his.

Adam revealed that he and April had an affair shortly after she tied the knot with Will, The Sun reports.

While on her death bed, she pleaded with him to come clean to her husband about the strong possibility that Lacey might not be his daughter.

Wracked by guilt and worried about how to break the news to his widower brother, Adam is not sure he’ll be able to own up, especially now that Lacey is starting to look more and more like him.

“We had a mutual agreement that we were never going to tell Will what happened as it would devastate him,” he wrote.

But then on her death bed April, made him promise to tell Lacey (7) and Will about their affair.

“I promised her that I would just to give her some peace. She passed away last month. I still haven’t told Will and I don’t think I ever will,” Adam wrote.

He said he feared telling his brother because he hadn’t coped well with the loss of his wife.

“He’s been hyper-depressed since April died and telling him this would just devastate him, let alone ruin our relationship.”

Reaching out to netizens on the site, Adam asked for advice on how to move forward and has received a flood of responses.

“This guy has been raising his daughter all this time. She’s his daughter. And beyond that, he’s her father,” one person commented.

“You should have to carry the shame of what you did, but you shouldn’t destroy two innocent people because of some deathbed promise you made to the other asshole in this situation.”

“Your promise to a dead woman means nothing of consequence when her family still lives. The only way you can potentially make things right is by caring for the kid and your brother,” added another.
