A 32-year-old mother and her 15-year old daughter are battling it out for the most likes on social media — and they even have a “selfie corner” in which to take the perfect pic!

Many of can relate to how teen Jenna Ward of Leicestershire in England feels about her mom being on social media and, to top it off, trying to be more popular on it than her – totally cringeworthy!

But mother of two Jenna Ward doesn’t care and is giving her daughter, Chloe, a run for her money on Instagram.

Jenna has nearly 7 000 followers and it seems she’s quickly catching up to Chloe who has 9 600.

The mother-daughter duo are competing to see who can take the best selfies and gain the most followers!

“I’m proud of our selfie battle. We view it as healthy competition. I’m sure others will criticise it . . . but we don’t care.

“Having a daughter like Chloe to keep me on my ‘selfie toes’ is great, and it helps me look young,” Jenna told Metro UK.

Jenna says she’s so obsessed with taking selfies, she even puts her make-up on the night before and sleeps propped up to avoid smudging – just so she wakes up camera ready.

She says her picture obsession started after she lost weight to drop three dress sizes, then spent £10 000 (R170 000) on a tummy tuck and Botox.

“I was frumpy and fat. I hated my looks. I took pictures of the children but never of myself. I wanted to feel better about myself and my body, so I lost weight, ate healthily and exercised,” Jenna told Kid Spot.

“Now I feel more confident, so this is my chance to embrace my new look and enjoy myself by posting selfies. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved. Chloe just has to grin and bear it.”

The mom and daughter have even installed a “selfie corner” at home so they can take perfect snaps.

What’s more, they even acknowledge spending thousands of pounds on make-up.

Even though this seems a little bizarre to many, Jenna says it’s all healthy competition and it’s given her more confidence.

“My Instagram and social media presence has given me huge confidence. I think I am 10 000% more body confident than I was before I had surgery.

“I would never have posted pictures of myself three years ago; now I have the confidence to. I follow make-up, fashion, plus-size and other body-positive influencers.

“As a mom, my hope is Chloe will use her social media to be an influencer and I want to be one too. I’m building a business on Instagram. I want to do make-up tutorials and reviews, and incorporate my Instagram with a blog. You can’t ignore social media.”
