How did your journey in the entertainment industry begin?

Besides the occasional theatre performances, I officially met the South African audience in 2016, while auditioning for Idols SA. I got a no that year, but made it to the top 16 the following year.

Tell us about your East Coast Radio journey?

While on My Kitchen Rules SA, my cooking partner and I were just having fun and being ourselves and surprisingly Mzansi fell in love with us. Little did we know that we had wiggled ourselves into the heart of East Coast Radio’s marketing manager Tanya Davis. She called their programming manager Zane Derbyshire to check us out. He tweeted that he’d like to have a chat with us, and in true Twitter style, people started retweeting and tagging you. M-Net replied and gave him my contact details, and a month later I was an East Coast Radio presenter.

What was the inspiration behind your single, iNtaba

I wanted my first-ever project to be different from the features I had done. I wanted people to see a soft, calm, and grown side of me. Sykes wrote the song, which means he had to be aware about my love life story which turned out to be South Africa’s love life story too.

Prince Kaybee produced iNtaba. What was it like working with him?

Amazing! He’s such a hard worker, and has taught me so much about the importance of discipline and dedication to your craft. He made me brave enough to release my own project.

How has COVID-19 affected you as an artist?

It has challenged my team and I to think outside the box. But we’ve realised that staying genuine helps, and that means openly speaking about the mental breakdowns we go through, and allowing music to heal us.

What four things do people not know about you?

  • I'm the best homemade pizza-maker at home… I'm actually tempted to say in the world.
  • I really hate unpacking my clothes, and as a result most of my clothes are in my suitcase. Shhhhh, don’t tell mom! ·      I love my older brothers a little more than my sisters, but there is nothing I wouldn't do for them.
  • I still watch SpongeBob (chuckles).

What do you want to be known for?

For doing it the best, on time, all the time, around the world.

Future plans?

I’d like to continue letting music use me as a tool to heal, to make people love, and to make people forgive. Most importantly to I intend on BECOMING.
