A gran has shown it’s never too late to get into shape!

Joan MacDonald, from Ontario in Canada, had battled with her weight all her life and even had to undergo knee replacement surgery because of it, Daily Mail reports.

At her heaviest the 73-year-old weighed around 90kg and suffered from high blood pressure, acid reflux and cholesterol.

Joan decided to change her lifestyle and used a new iPhone her daughter had bought for her to track her workouts and diet, Fox News reports.

She started working out four times a week and switched to a diet of fruit, vegetables and meat instead of junk foods.

“I was on a meal plan set up by [daughter] Michelle with ‘X’ number of calories – primarily protein, carbs and good fats, and as the weight and inches came down my intake of food went up,” Joan told Mirror News.

The gran said she now gets compliments from young men.

“It’s changed the way I feel about myself. People at my gym would approach me and compliment me on the changes they saw in me.

“I feel much better about myself now and getting compliments from younger men and women sure boosts the self-esteem.

“My husband started remarking about how good I look and my family is so proud of my efforts.

“I have an easier time staying away from junk or fast foods. And as for exercise, I’ll keep at it because there’s always room for change and improvement.”
