And the true identities of Kabouter and Pikkewyn remain a mystery – as well as why Kabouter would be begging for forgiveness.

Verna Mulder shared pictures of the banners on Instagram. Her post has since been shared hundreds of times on social media, with many trying to find Kabouter and Pikkewyn – but the two haven’t come forward.

“This morning [Monday] I saw the banners are still up, so either Pikkewyn didn’t see them, or she hasn’t forgiven him,” Verna tells YOU.

She wonders if Pikkewyn and Kabouter have been too busy making up to take down the banners.

“All I know is it must’ve been a lot of effort to put those banners up really early on Friday. It must’ve taken a long time and it’s also not cheap to print banners like that,” Verna says.

Social media has been abuzz with speculation about the couple’s identity and what Kabouter’s transgression might’ve been.

“Mmm, I wonder what Kabouter did to make him beg Pikkewyn’s forgiveness?” Cathy Meintjies wrote on Facebook.

Another Facebook user, Estelle Vivier, reckons the banners are such a grand gesture that Pikkewyn has no other choice but to forgive Kabouter.

“We’re all so very curious. We can’t believe no-one on the East Rand knows who they are,” Verna says.
