Actress Pebetsi Matlaila, who plays Mokgadi in Skeem Saam, has hit back at criticism after reports that she’s involved a bitter labour dispute. Her former helper filed a case of unfair dismissal against her with the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).

Pebetsi relayed in an Instagram video clip what she claims played out between her and her helper.

Some people didn’t take like her airing her laundry on social media, but Pebetsi didn’t take those comments lightly.

She says she is unbothered by the views of the world as she’s living her life the way she wants to. Having been cyberbullied before, she says she’s learnt to toughen up.

“So if there’s one thing about it is that I don’t suffer from ‘what are people going to say’ syndrome. I’ve developed a thick skin over time. Being cyberbullied, from my times in radio to now my acting times. You just develop a thick skin and not worry what people have to say [sic],” she says in the video clip.

The actress says people shouldn’t be dictating to her what to share if they are uncomfortable because she won’t stop.

“My story is my truth and it might just help or empower somebody to get out the problems that they’re currently dealing with. We all know that, what you ignore you delay. But what you confront you defeat. So, face your problems head-on,” she concludes.
