South African men humorously challenge traditional masculinity with #MenWithWeaves

Amidst the seriousness of the fight against the coronavirus, and with the country under lockdown, South Africans have found new and creative ways to entertain themselves. Recently, Twitter has been ablaze with the #MenWithWeaves challenge which has seen many South African men humorously living out their fantasies of wearing weaves.  

Traditional masculinity doesn’t allow men to freely participate and engage in acts deemed too feminine, so we must admit we’re proud of the way these South African men are challenging the perception of what it means to be a man – particularly when it comes to weaves .

And these guys didn’t hold back in the Twitter challenge, they went all the way. If they’re going to wear weaves, they said, they’d display some diva attitude too!
