Dancer Donté Colley from Toronto, Canada, is a university student by day and creates viral motivational dances by night, USA Today reports.
The 21-year-old, who has more than 420 000 followers on Instagram, takes videos of himself dancing to elevator music and instrumentals and layers them with words of encouragement.
“When I first started making videos I was getting positive feedback from my friends who’d message me and be like ‘this made me smile today’ so it just kind of motivated me more to keep making them,” he said in an interview with Buzz Feed.
Donté, who struggled with mental health issues, said he was inspired to make clips that would make people feel good.
“I’ve had close people in my life that have had struggles with their mental health. It's not fun to watch, so I had to find a way to help them get through,” he told ABC News.
“If I’m able to help one person, that’s all I could ever ask for.”
The young man hopes his videos will encourage people to stay true to who they are.
“Honestly just really try hard to not compare yourself on social media and stay strong and keep an open mind,” Donté said.
“We’re all going through different things at different times, and we never know what anyone else is going through.”
