Speaking during an interview with MadameNoire , the Intruder actress revealed that being celibate was the craziest thing she has done for love.
“I did that for self-growth but ultimately, I stayed in it because I felt like I wanted to do things God’s way and I wanted to honour my marriage and I wanted to set us up to win…,” she said.
It is not the first time that the 37-year-old has been candid about her celibacy. In an exclusive interview with ET Online in 2016, the actress and her movie producer turned preacher husband, DeVon Franklin, revealed that they only had sex on their wedding night and said the key to their relationship was waiting to have sex until marriage.
Meagan also revealed that she had decided on celibacy even before she was in a relationship with Franklin.
“I've been in several relationships since I was 19,” she told the publication before explaining why she decided on celibacy.
“I would feel bad and be like, 'Let's try to be celibate. And then I was worried that they were going to cheat or the relationship was going to end or whatever, and what happened was the relationship ended anyway.”
The couple also shared their journey of celibacy in their book, The Wait: A Powerful Practice to Find the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love.
