Maverick Austin from Texas in the US has been hailed as father of the year after his heartwarming gesture to his 11-year-old daughter, Avi, who recently had her first period, the Mirror reports.
Taking to his Facebook page to detail the experience, Maverick detailed how initially Avi called him thinking that she’d soiled herself when she saw a dark mark on her underwear.
“So I rush to school take her a change of undies,” wrote the dad who was in the middle of a business conference when the incident occurred.
But it wasn’t until she called her father for the second time that he realised she hadn’t soiled herself and had started her period.
“A few hours later she calls and I had to put an important
work meeting I’m hosting on hold, which I never do, and she says, ‘Dad, it
happened again’,” Maverick added.
It was at this point that the dedicated dad realised his daughter had had her first period. “I’m racing to the school while calling them telling the nurse to go find my child!”
Upon arrival, Maverick found his daughter waiting for him calmly at the school office.
“Dad, I officially started my first-” she said before he interrupted her, adding, “I already know, Avi. It hit me a few minutes after I hung up on you.”

But all milestones deserve rewards. “Don’t I get something like when a tooth falls out?” Avi asked so Maverick sneaked off while she was in the shower to get some of her favourite treats, Metro reported.
And what better way to end what started off with a little panic than with chocolates, cookies and ice cream from the world’s best dad!
