With hardly more than a week to go before their wedding, a young couple were left heartbroken after calling off their wedding because the groom’s father and the bride’s mother had gone missing.

The couple, from Gujarat in India, had been looking forward to tying the knot after a year of planning their nuptials, Independent reports.

But the ceremony was put on hold after their parents, a 48-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, disappeared 11 days before the bash.

Their families reported them missing but it’s alleged that they rekindled a childhood romance and eloped, New York Post reports.

A relative of both families told the Times of India that they knew each other from living in the same area.

After they disappeared, close friends also disclosed that the pair had previously been in a relationship.
