Trevor Noah sells out Madison Square Garden

Comedian, Trevor Noah, performed to more than 20 000 people at Madison Square Garden in New York over the weekend. The 35-year-old is the 10thstar to ever do this, following the likes of American comedians such as Eddie Murphy, Kevin Hart, Chris Rock, Russell Peters, just to mention a few. He has, however, made history as the first African comedian to sell out the arena in New York. Taking to social media, Trevor wrote, “Last night was incredible. Thank you to everyone that packed out [Madison Square Garden] and made it such a memorable night! I didn’t want it to end.” He is currently on his Loud and Clear Tourand filming the popular television programme, The Daily Show.

#PinkPolo2019

Polo was celebrated with a purpose this past weekend as all shades of pink were on show at the Val de Vie Estate in Cape Town. Celebrities, socialites and polo lovers were in attendance as Biomedical Emporium presented the decade celebration of the Pink Polo. Some of the stars spotted at the event were Jessica Nkosi, Khanyi Mbau, Khanya Mkangisa, former Miss South Africa, Tamaryn Green, as well as former Miss South Africa and Miss World, Rolene Strauss, who had a live gender reveal at this year's Pink Polo. She is expecting a baby boy.

Which look is your favourite?

Full Fit ? #PinkPolo2019 ——— Storytime: Had a conversation with someone yesterday that reminded me that I’m not and have never really been taken seriously as a valuable contributor to the fashion industry. & if we’re being honest, the babes the industry take seriously all have a similar look and feel. I’m short, dark skinned and fat—there’s no way that hasn’t hindered my progress and success, especially in this country. I have been in the industry for a really long time now and if we keeping it 100— I don’t have a lot to show for it. I mean sure, I have the consistent support and love from the people who follow and support me but that’s pretty much it. I’m definitely not backed by the media, either. The media has dubbed me so many titles without my consent, always insisting on labeling me a “plus-size” something or the other. I don’t and have never really consented to being labeled any of that or other similar terms. What those labels do is further more remove me from the work I actually do, others me, and separates me from the pack and that has been so damaging to my career as someone who believes to have put in some work over the years to be seen for the work I do in fashion, and nothing else. I can’t help but think how things would be if I looked different. There are so many instances and things that were told to my face that corroborates my story. I have been snubbed opportunities with no real reasons or explanations but the favourite “she isn’t a brand fit”. I have had designers not want to work with me on the same EXACT capacity they do my peers— it’s so obvious that they have no business wanting to dress a fat person. I have been treated very poorly on set by stylists in comparison to fellow ‘smaller’ framed ‘influencers’, —the list goes on. The only time I’m even considered is when a brand or campaign is taking a “inclusive” approach—but I’m never considered, to JUST be considered. So much work has to be done to NORMALIZE people who ‘look like me ‘ and that work in fashion. We’ve merely scrapped the surface. ——— Make-up: @rushanaisaacs Fit: If you’re a real one, you already know the answer to this. Hat: @therealcrystalbirch Accesorizes : @zara

The 2019 E! People's Choice Awards

Hollywood’s biggest celebrities from TV, movies, music and pop culture came out in numbers to make the 2019 E! People's Choice Awards a night to remember. Over one billion votes were submitted by fans, which resulted in some of the following wins:

Robert Downey Jr opened the night by honouring Kevin Hart, who won The Comedy Act of 2019! The comedian made his first public appearance at the awards since the near-fatal car crash in September.

Jennifer Aniston walked away with The People's Icon of 2019 Award and Gwen Stefani got the Fashion Icon Award trophy. Our very own, Bonang Matheba, took the African Influencer of 2019 title. Some memorable looks were also served on the red carpet:
