A 23-year-old, who wants to remain anonymous, recently took to Reddit to share why she won’t be asking her best friend, “Grace”, to be her maid of honour.

The bride-to-be wrote that she’s had the same group of best friends since the age of four. But there’s one particular friend she’s held a grudge against since they were seven years old.

When they were teenagers the group created a “circle system” to ensure that each of them would get the opportunity to be a maid of honour for one another.

The bride-to-be was assigned Grace, whom she’s particularly close to and “loves to death”.

But although the 23-year-old admits she can't quite recall the details, she believes Grace told a teacher she was bullying her which got her in huge trouble with her dad.

“I’d never seen him more angry,” the bride-to-be says.

She adds that Grace has “absolutely no recollection of this” and said she should let bygones be bygones because it happened 16 years ago.

“She [Grace] was really upset, claiming that if the only trauma I experienced was my dad telling me off I ‘got off lightly’ and that I need to stop holding such a grudge.

“I think she's being really unfair,” she says, adding that most of her friends have “told her off”.

“All of our friends have told me I'm an a**hole for not allowing her to be the maid of honour but at the end of the day it's my wedding, and I'm not going to change my mind to appease her.”

In a recent update, the bride-to-be said she’s apologised to Grace and has had a change of heart, the Mirror reports.

“I admittedly haven’t been as sympathetic towards Grace as I should’ve been and have therefore sincerely apologised to her for that,” the bride-to-be wrote.

“My dad has no recollection of the event, and as many of you have pointed out, neither do I so I’ve decided to put it behind me.

“I’ve asked Grace to be my maid of honour but her husband is not my biggest fan currently so I’m not sure what will come of it.”
