Whether you met a guy on Tinder or your friends set you up on a date with someone you do not know, it can be beneficial to enlist the help of google or social media from time-to-time to have an idea of what you’re getting yourself into.

TV presenter Bonnie Mbuli recently took to Twitter to share her experience with this and how a simple google search of the person she was planning to meet up with saved her a lot of trouble.

Zimbabwean author Sue Nyathi started the conversation with a tweet about being afraid to google people because you’re afraid of what you might find.

“Have you ever met someone new and were afraid to Google them because you like them too much and you are afraid of what you might find,” she began the tweet.

“You don't even ask anyone in your circle of friends if they know them in case someone does and they have files for days!” she wrote.
