Abbie Dooley, 23 originally from Manchester, now living in Dubai, was shocked to wake up one morning to find her boyfriend, James Ainscough, 26, had bought a Christmas tree for their new apartment from a local supermarket.

However despite Abbie asking James to buy decorations for the bare tree while she was at work, it remained undecorated for several days, which prompted the dental nurse to pay him back for his laziness.

“It finally got to 5 December and he still hadn't bought one single Christmas decoration so I decided to take matters into my own hands and teach him a lesson for being so lazy and not sticking to his promise,” she said.

Abbie printed pictures of her face before adding ribbon to the back and hanging them on the tree, complete with a full-length picture of herself at the top of the tree.

She then went about adding white fluff around the bottom to imitate snow as well as finishing off with Christmas lights and more decorative ribbon in just time for PE teacher James, to see on his return to the apartment.

"I decorated the tree in the morning before work so James [would see] the tree when he got home around 3pm,” she said.

"I just received a text message from him when he saw it with some strong language that I can't repeat,” she added.

Abby took a video of his hilarious reaction to how she’d decorated the Christmas tree and posted it online.

“People were commenting saying how amazing it was and calling me a legend for doing it, so everyone else seemed to like it. Just not James,” she said.

“The tree is staying up as it is with my face on for the rest of Christmas. James has finally accepted it, I secretly think he loves it but he won't admit it,” she added.
