Glossy magazines, blogs and trendy Instagram accounts have a reputation for inundating us with the latest and greatest beauty products to try. From the newest miracle in anti-ageing skincare, to the perfect mousse that’ll give your tresses the ultimate texture, it’s often difficult to know what is actually worth the hype. It’s why I have come to appreciate events like the ELLE Beauty Awards where standout beauty products are celebrated for their quality and effectiveness.
This year, WOOLWORTHS and ELLE South Africa teamed up to welcome the country’s biggest beauty enthusiasts at the glamorous new Woolies Mall of Africa store. Champagne, canapés and a stylish red carpet greeted guests the likes of Top Billing presenter Jeannie D, ELLE Editor-in-Chief Emilie Gambade, industry execs from top brands like Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent and Clarins, as well popular bloggers Kamo Mafokwane and Hayleigh Chamberlain.
So, who won?
INTERNATIONAL FRAGRANCE OF THE YEAR
LOCAL FRAGRANCE OF THE YEAR
My utmost favourite win had to be Clarins Supra Volume Mascara, which I received early 2016. It quickly became the holy grail of mascara for me! Spoken from a girl with short, barely-there lashes, it’s a treat to use this tube of tricks. Dior foundation is also definitely on my radar as the beauty product to try, thanks to the ELLE Beauty Awards.
Did I mention the goodie bags? Just to make you a little more envious, we went home with a bag stashed full of mags and beauty treats, including signature Woolworths beauty products like WBeauty Face Smoothing Primer, WBeauty Brow Kit, WBeauty 3-in-1 Waterproof Mascara and WBeauty Hydro Lipstick.
