It's Peter Dinklage's nameday!
He might be best known for his perfect portrayal of the much loved character Tyrion in HBO's Game of Thrones, but Peter himself deserves just as much admiration and respect as the Imp.
Here's just a taste of why...

2) He is a deeply caring human being who uses his platform for good.
Peter became a vegetarian when he was 16, and supports many animal rights groups. He has even been the spokesman for Walk for Farm Animals, an organization that hightlights the cruelty in the meat farming industry.
Peter is also outspoken about the prejudices that surround dwarfism. When he won one of his well-deserved Emmy Awards for his role in Game of Thrones in 2012, he ended his acceptance speech with mention of Martin Henderson, an aspiring actor who was paralysed when a drunken man decided to try his hand at "dwarf tossing".

4) He proved that you don't have to degrade yourself to succeed
While Peter doesn't look down on those who choose to play roles they later regret, he revealed in an interview with the New York Times that he often struggled because he refused degrading roles such as playing one of Santa's little elves.
It paid off. Peter was George R. R. Martin's first and only choice to play Tyrion, and no other actor was even auditioned for the role.
5) He is ridiculously modest
And quickly brushes off any attempt to suggest he's a sex symbol, or even an inspiration.
6) He once rocked this hairstyle
And it was magnificent, almost as magnificent as this gif of Tyrion and Jaime dancing.
7) He isn't a cat person but he's owned a cat for ten years, because one showed up in his apartment one day and he doesn't like hurting or being mean to animals.
8) He's FORTY-FIVE
That's right, forty-five today.
Happy birthday Peter Dinklage! As massive Game of Thrones fans, we say this with the deepest sincerity: May you have many, many more!
