According to Buzzfeed, Lily James, who plays Cinderella, appears to have the waist of a life-sized Barbie doll because she was wearing a corset at the time. Well, this is what her agent and a representative at Disney will have us believe.
Buzzfeed called in a corset expert (apparently they exist) who said that the corset could’ve created the much slimmer effect, but acknowledges that there’s still the possibility of Lily’s waist being photoshopped.
Okay, so let’s give them the benefit of the doubt. Let’s say her waist wasn’t digitally altered to look smaller than it actually is (I call bullshit, but whatevs). Let’s say this is just a corset. What I still want to know is why the hell Disney thought it was okay to put a beautiful woman who has an amazing body and quite a lovely waist in a corset? Is it because that’s what you need to be a princess?
Being unrealistically thin, after all, is what all girls should want. That and a killer rack. Because who cares if you’ve endured years of abuse from a crazy woman and have discovered that you have a fairy godmother who can turn friggin mice into horses and a totally hot prince smaaks you? You still need to be thin.
And I’m not the only one who thinks this is completely insane:
This isn't a normal human sized waist, right? We can all agree on that, yeah? #Cinderella #Disney pic.twitter.com/uMFOORkYIF
