So, the girl group broke up way back in 2000, then got back together for a reunion tour in 2007 before citing personal and family reasons for an abrupt end to the tour. We then saw them when they started promoting Viva Forever – a musical set to some of their greatest hits.
In 2012, they spiced up our lives again with their performance at the Olympics, and Spice Girls fans everywhere lost their minds.
And, as you can imagine, we (yes, we. I’m a fan, okay?) are all suffering from withdrawal while clutching our spice branded pens, and re-watching that atrocious, but still nostalgia-inducing film, Spiceworld.
So when Mel B spoke to Ellen about their last performance, and said that she would like to make a reunion happen “in the next year or two,” I began playing Viva Forever (the song) on loop, and am now crying into my keyboard hoping that this means they’ll actually make it to Cape Town this time, and my Spice Fund will not have been for naught.
