Nigella Lawson’s toxic marriage ends

Remember those snaps of Nigella seemingly being choked by her husband? Well, it certainly seemed to create a rift between the two. Charles Saatchi revealed to the Mail on Sunday that he is “sorry to announce that Nigella Lawson and I are getting divorced.”

After the pictures broke, Nigella skipped town with the kids and hasn’t said anything about the incident. She was probably advised by her team of publicists not to, but Charles still isn’t impressed.

“I feel that I have clearly been a disappointment to Nigella during the last year or so, and I am disappointed that she was advised to make no public comment to explain that I abhor violence of any kind against women, and have never abused her physically in any way,” he says.

Now, he says that the split was “heartbreaking,” and added that in the past year the couple had become “estranged” and “drifted apart”, but if he really is so sad about it, wouldn’t it have taken him a bit longer to decide to divorce?

Or tried a bit harder to reconcile with his wife?

Or maybe this decision was made a while ago but the incident in the restaurant (and the stories about it) really pushed him to go ahead with it?

We’re not sure but from what we’ve seen, this seems like a fairly toxic relationship and maybe it is best to go ahead and end it.
