Caster Semenya is already a national hero, a gold medalist, and legendary sprinter, but now she can also add ELLE cover star to her already impressive CV.

Tarryn Oppel, ELLE's fashion director, met with the athlete before her shoot to discuss with the outfits for the feature.

For the cover, Caster is in Nike, Zara and Levi’s and her smile could light up a room.

Caster, who was interviewed by Tidi Benbenisti on the same day of the shoot in Johannesburg, considers herself "ordinary" despite the fact that she has achieved so much.

"The noise, it motivates me. It encourages me to do well and to be a better person. Not only for myself but in life, how I see and how I treat people. I choose to turn it into something positive. I don’t entertain what goes on. I focus on what I do, what can benefit me more in life. It’s about staying positive and strong, and knowing what I want," says Caster in her interview.

Emilie Gambade, editor of ELLE South Africa and ELLE Decoration, says "She is not only a fabulous athlete, she is an inspiring woman with incredible determination and willpower. We feel so lucky we could work with her."

The mag is available in stores from today: Monday, 21 November.
