Celebs and TV shows making big comebacks in 2018

(See bottom of post for this week's newsletter competition)

2017 was a long year and then January 2018 was an even longer year. Seriously, I feel like I lived more of a (broke) life in those 31 days than was necessary.

But now we have the rest of 2018 to look forward to and it’s filled with so many possibilities and opportunities, right?

Well it looks like it’s certainly that way for some of your favourite famous faces and TV shows. Here’s a list of what and who's making a major comeback:

Celebs

Meg Ryan

Looks like our favourite romcom queen is set to be on our screens again after a much-too-long hiatus after her last silver screen appearance in 2015’s Ithaca. Meg will be on the TV comedy Picture Paris which premieres this year and is based on the 2011 movie of the same name.

The movie stars Veep’s Julia Louis-Dreyfus and is about a mom who wants to take a dream trip to Paris with her husband after her kids leave home, but it might not be all it’s cracked up to be. Here’s hoping Meg’s small screen foray will be as successful as her career was in the ‘90s.

The Spice Girls

Now if you’re like me, then you’ve been hoping for this reunion pretty much for the last 10 years. There have been rumours swirling for years and we got a glimmer of hope when they all performed together at the 2012 Olympics.

But it’s been said that Victoria Beckham didn’t want to get back together with the rest of the group. However, recently, Victoria shared an Instagram of the entire group and the Daily Mail reported that the girls will reunite for a massive world tour. Now we wait to see if it’s true.

Love my girls!!! So many kisses!!! X Exciting x #friendshipneverends #girlpower

Florence Welch

The lead singer of Florence and The Machine is set to release a book of lyrics, poetry and art called Useless Magic. Rumours are also going around that the band might release their follow up to How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful since Florence was said to be working on some new material last year and is performing at a few festivals this year.

Craig David

Remember 7 Days and Walking Away? And that song he did with Sting, Rise and Fall? Yeah those were ‘00s bops.

Craig released a few albums over the years, but none of them made a big splash outside if the UK, then he was quiet for a while before releasing Following My Intuition in 2016.

But I think his latest album, The Time Is Now, is set to be his big comeback into the main pop arena. Listen to his latest single featuring Bastille below.

Michael B Jordan

Okay, let’s all shout out together, what’s the biggest expected movie of the year? BLACK PANTHER! And your man Michael is in it. Plus he’s got roles in Raising Dion, Just Mercy, Farenheit 451 and Creed II. He’s going to be BUSY this year. He’s sure making up for 2016 and 2017 where he was rather quiet doing mostly voiceover work for TV shows and video games.

TV shows

Roseanne

The beloved Conner family will be returning to our screens in 2018 with all the original cast members – yes, even John Goodman! With Will and Grace and Full House making their comebacks already, we are champing at the bit for this rehash.

Sabrina The Teenage Witch

This reboot will not be as cool and carefree as the original series with Melissa Joan Hart, but this show will be featured on Netflix and will be darker than the original version to match up with it’s Riverdale counterparts.

Charmed

It seems everyone’s favourite witchy series is getting a reboot and it’s going to be set in the modern day. Two female writers, Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin, who have written for Jane The Virgin, are set to write the script for the pilot. According to Glamour, the CW is describing it as a 'fierce, funny, feminist reboot'.

Although I don’t personally see how much different that is from the original series, but here’s hoping it’s good.

WIN!

It's going to be a big, big year of comebacks! The Spice Girls, Meg Ryan (!) and Craig David are all going to charm our screens and ears.
