Thandie Newton has claimed she didn't have a relationship with her parents for a decade after she went public with her experiences of sexual abuse.

Thandie became one of the faces of the Times Up and #MeToo movements after revealing she'd suffered abuse during an audition with a male director when she was just 18 years old.

While the majority of people praised her for coming forward with her experience in a bid to lift the lid on what happens on the casting couch, the revelation was so awful for her parents that it put a huge strain on their relationship.

Thandie says it robbed her of a relationship with them for a decade.
