The 47-year-old actress plays singer, Grace Davis in the new movie The High Note, a role which she says she'd never have had the confidence to take 20 years ago.
In the movie, Grace's label encouraging her to do a Las Vegas residency instead of recording a new album. In one scene, she points out how few singers over 40 still score number one hits, and Tracee shares this frustration with ageism.
Tracee added that she thinks it's absurd to count out other women who are in this age bracket and beyond. She reflects on the wonderful expression, "youth is wasted on the young", which she thinks is great.
Tracee is also in good company with many A-list stars including Halle Berry, now 53 years old, having opened up about tackling ageism in her movie John Wick 3, and Naomi Campbell embracing turning 50 years old.
