Rooted in making authentic music, Tresor is going to set the stage on fire this Heritage weekend alongside Sun El Musician at the DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival.

We caught up with the Congolese-born singer and songwriter who’s given us hits like Speed of Sound, Never Let Me Go and Mount Everest.

What can we expect from your DStv Delicious performance?

I’m doing a really amazing collaboration with Sun El Musician. I’m bringing my whole live band, so it’s going to be an electric show. It’s something proudly African and different. People must expect something that hasn’t been done before. I’m truly excited about it.

How do you choose your collaborations?

I always go for someone who is bold musically, and artists who go against the trends and bring something new. I believe music is all about innovation, and African musicians should always be looking to expand in sound and explore new sonic avenues. I choose collaborations based how best to on push boundaries.

Who would you still love to work with here in Mzansi?

I think I have worked with most artists I’ve wanted to work except Black Coffee. I’d love to do something with him and believe it will happen really soon.

You’ve just released your single Silale featuring. The Soil, which is from your upcoming album Nostalgia. What has the reception from fans?

The reception has been great! The impact of the single is really exciting. I’m actually going to be announcing my track list for my album on the 20th of October, so that is something to look forward to. The public can look forward to something special and amazing.

It’s been three years since your debut album dropped, how do you feel?

I feel blessed. Not many artists can last this long and be relevant whilst growing from strength to strength. I’m grateful for the last three years.

And your favourite performance to date?

I’ve performed quite a lot but Cape Town Jazz Festival last year was awesome. The energy was just crazy. Another memorable one was Blanket and Wine in Kigali – my whole family was there and they got to see me perform live for the first time. It was special.

The DStv Delicious Food and Music Festival takes place this weekend, September 22 - 23 September in Midrand, Kyalami Grand Prix.
