The pair's relationship has come under much scrutiny and more so the news of their marriage. The rapper recently shared a short video of bride and groom baseball caps and Mr and Mrs mugs on her Instagram account. Below is the post which appears to be a reference to the date of their wedding and a confirmation that she has taken Kenneth's surname.
The couple obtained their marriage licence in July but had been waiting for a particular pastor to be free to officiate the ceremony.
This relationship (and more so, the marriage) is particularly odd because of Kenneth Petty's criminal history. Kenneth was reportedly convicted for an attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl and served seven years in jail for a manslaughter charge he plead guilty. Given her partner's history, Nicki's views on women's wellbeing have repeatedly been called into question despite the declarations she makes about being in "support (of) abused women".
Numerous celebrities have had their fair share of controversial marriages and relationships. While not quite as questionable as Nicki and Kenneth's union, here are other odd celebrity unions:
Cher and Gregg Allman
According to Entertainment Weekly, Cher filed for divorce after 9 days of marrying Gregg. A couple reconcilled because they found out that she was pregnant with their son Elijah. According to the report, Cher realised Gregg’s heroin and liquor problems were too much for her to handle and the pair eventually divorced in 1979.
Sophie Ndaba and Keith Harrington
Sophie Ndaba’s marriage to Keith Harrington ended with the pair reportedly taking protection orders against each other. It later came out that the pair never legally married, Keith shared with City Press that he and Sophie Ndaba never signed a marriage certificate at their ‘surprise’ wedding.
Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton
While the most obvious thing about Angelina and Billy Bob’s relationship was that he is two decades her senior, this marriage ended as a result of Billy Bob’s battles with insecurities.
He told GQ magazine, “I never felt good enough for her.” This was at a time Angelina juggled meetings with the United Nations, state presidents and adoption agencies, while Billy Bob says he just wanted to stay home and watch baseball.
