During her appearance at the awards ceremony, which honours the achievements of people of colour in motion pictures, TV, music, and literature, Rihanna says she was trying to keep her speech simple as the night wasn't about her because the purpose is bigger than her. She believes her role is a small part of the work that's being done in the world.
The chart-topping singer then reflected on her philanthropic efforts, saying, "If there's anything I've learnt, it's that we can only fix this world together and we can't do it divided."
The speech caught the attention of social media users across the globe, where Rihanna was praised for her impassioned words.
