Musician Toya Delazy is embracing herself fully.
In a post on her Instagram page, Toya gives us a rare glimpse of herself wearing a dress and reflects on her journey with choosing which clothes she’s most comfortable wearing.
Toya, who is a real-life princess, is the first to admit that she doesn’t own a single dress in her wardrobe and explains the reasons why.
“I hated dresses all my life because I was forced to wear them because I was a girl.”
The muso says she hated wearing dresses because they were forced on her because she is a girl. Growing up she felt that dresses were not as liberating as pants are and that wearing pants made her enjoy some masculine privileges.

“I used pants as protection from weirdos & feeling subservient, pants allowed me to own some of the privileges men have,” she said.
The dress issue got so deep for her that even religion came into it. She joined a religious group that called women who wore pants ‘satanic’.

But the Pump it on hitmaker admits she had to unlearn all of that and embrace herself fully.
“I've come a long way mentally, I have unlearned so much bullshit and I have embraced myself. I love my feminity, I love my masculinity. This moment was empowering, feeling safe enough to express my feminity and at my own terms,” she said.
