Kate McCallister – Home Alone
While Kate isn’t a homicidal maniac or an abusive horror like most of the mothers on this list, she is EXTREMELY irresponsible. She forgets her 8-year-old child at home not once, but TWICE because she was too annoyed at his bad behaviour to check that he was actually there. Can anyone say “neglect”?

Mrs Wormwood – Matilda
Oh she was an awful mother to that little girl. She cared more about playing cards with her friends than she did the wellbeing of her own child. She’s vapid and tacky and just doesn’t understand Matilda – not that she ever really tries.
