Facebook ads are getting a whole new level added to them when you’ll be able to feel like you’re shopping in store. Facebook announced on Tuesday that it’s rolling out augmented reality ads that will allow their users to try on sunglasses, make up and even furniture right in their news feeds.
Basically, soon you’ll be able to upload pictures of yourself and try on different shades of beauty items and accessories without ever leaving your Facebook app, according to Buzzfeed News. Sephora, Nyx Professional Makeup, Bobbi Brown, Pottery Barn, and Wayfair will begin testing the technology later this year.
Facebook already knowing which ads you’re interested in is already pretty incredible, but this is a whole new level of cool. Not only will your favourite fashion and beauty ads pop up more often but you’ll actually be able to put yourself in them. They announced the augmented reality feature back in May, but they’re working on perfecting it in time for holiday season when we all usually do our most shopping.

So how does it work?
An ad pops up on your Facebook feed in the middle of all the other random ramblings of your friends and you can tap on the photo, upload a selfie, and then choose different accessories or makeup shades. The different items will show right there on your image, showing you what you’ll look like in them.
Plus, you’ll be able to purchase the item directly from the ad. Here’s hoping to means less returns since you actually get to try it on before you buy it. They’ll be testing the ads for the next few months in time to go live for the holiday season.
