Social media has been abuzz since a sex video of Minister Malusi Gigaba made the rounds on Sunday morning. In a series of tweets, Gigaba revealed that the video was stolen when his phone was hacked more than a year ago. He claims that the video was used to blackmail him - someone allegedly demanded that he pay R5 million, which he refused to do.

According to EWN, social media lawyer Emma Sadleir says the video is a violation of Gigaba’s privacy and could lead to legal prosecution. Sadleir explains that those who share the video may get into trouble, if the video was obtained illegally.

“Every single person who shares that video is contributing to that harm and committing a separate criminal offence each time. And so I really urge every member of the public not to send it on, not to repost it and not to retweet it,” she said.

If you want to take nudes or sexy pics to send to bae, protect yourself by doing the following:

1. Hide your face. This is rule number one when it comes to sharing nudes, regardless of how much you think you can trust your partner. After all, it’s not your face that’s going to arouse him, but rather your nudity. That way, you’re protected should he decide to do the unthinkable.

2. Use apps such as Snapchat and Instagram to send your saucy pics. According to Truesnaps, the photo-sharing apps allow users to set a time limit on how long their pictures/snaps can be viewed before they are deleted from the recipient’s device. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.

3. Crop or block any identifiable features, like tattoos, birthmarks etc, that will give away that it’s you in the picture.
